Women Empowerment Centre in Chitral
HOPE’87
and HOAP have chosen some of the most remote and inaccessible regions for
their interventions, in order to empower the people through the provision
of different services such that they can change their lives. Chitral in
the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) belongs to one of those regions.
Attracting tourists from all over the world for their picturesque beauty,
the rugged mountains and valleys are made up of small villages and
enclaves. With a dependence on subsistence agriculture coupled with a fast
increasing population, the ratio of available resources to consumption is
decreasing, resulting in widespread poverty. With such little resources
available, most families are reluctant to spend money on educating their
children and
girls
are suffering the most under these conditions.
Providing them with a facility where women could get education in a safe
and secure environment with least education cost, will give them an
opportunity to turn their dreams into reality.
