Humanitarian assistance for natural disasters and conflict victims in Pakistan

The project titled “Humanitarian assistance for natural disasters and conflict victims in Pakistan” is Co Funded by the  European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) and HOPE’87 for the flood and conflict victims in District Umerkot of Sindh and District Malakand of Khyber Pakhtunkha. The details of the project are as follows;

  • Location:           Sindh – District Umerkot, Taluka Samaro  and Khyber Pakhtaunkhwa (KPK) – District Malakand, Tehsil Betkhela,
  • Donor:              European Commission Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection department (ECHO) and HOPE’87
  • Local Partner:   Community Development & Research Organization Pakistan (CRDO)
  • Project Planned Deliverables:             

Water:

  • Rehabilitation of of 350 hand pumps in Sindh
  • Repairing/Construction/disinfection of 40 water supply schemes in KPK
  • Distribution of water storage and transport containers to 3,400 households (Sindh and KPK).

Sanitation:

  • Rehabilitation   of 1,300 Disaster Resilient latrines with soak away 30m from water source in (300 in Sindh and 1,000 in KPK)
  • Masonry and plumbing works training to 90 Crafts persons (30 in Sindh and 60 in KPK)
  • Cleaning/De-silting/digging of 15,000 meters drainage canals in KPK
  • Cash for work opportunity to 500 persons in KPK

Hygiene (Sindh and KPK)

  • Distribution of hygiene kit to 3,400 households ( Sindh and KPK)
  • Health & hygiene promotion through one to one and community session to 35,580 individuals
  • Distribution of 7,200 hygiene promotion leaflets (including water purification techniques)
  • Posting 1,200 Hygiene promotion posters
  • 60% increase in hygienic practices and knowledge (especially women and children)

 

  • Duration:            July 2012 till June 2013.
  • No. of beneficiaries:      At least 63,300 Individuals
  • Project Funding: 825,000 Euros
